This homemade beef au jus recipe is the perfect dip for beef prime rib, steaks, roast beef sandwiches, and mashed potatoes. It comes together quickly and is easy to make ahead, making it perfect for holiday gatherings!

Ingredients
3Tablespoonsunsalted butter
¼cupminced shallot
2clovesgarlicminced
¼cupdry red wine
2cupsbeef stockor beef drippings with fat skimmed off
In a saucepan melt the butter over medium heat. Add the shallot and garlic, saute for 5 minutes or until slightly carmelized.
Add the wine and bring to a boil, cook for 2 minutes. Add the beef stock and/ordrippings, Add worcestershire and thyme, bring to a boil. Simmer until reduced by half, about 20 minutes. Strain the sauce and season with salt and pepper.
Notes
To make this au jus without wine simply skip that step and just add the beef broth.
