There are many ways to thin BBQ sauce but adding water or beer and gently warming is the most universal method. It works with a variety of BBQ sauces from homemade recipes to storebought.
In a medium saucepan, heat the BBQ sauce over low heat until it is warmed through.
Gradually add your liquid of choice 1 tablespoon at a time until the desired constinecy is acheived.

Serve the BBQ sauce as desired or store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.Other options for thinning the BBQ sauce include tomato puree, beer, wine, bourbon/ whiskey, apple juice, apple cider vinegar, chicken or beef broth, Coca-Cola, Worcestershire Sauce, or Soy Sauce.
