This creamy condiment goes hand in hand with my au jus sauce for mouthwatering sous vide prime rib! What I love about this is that it's special enough for Thanksgiving and holiday dinners but easy enough to spice up your favorite burger.
📖Why My Recipe Works
- Sour cream- Using a thick and creamy base creates a rich, tangy sauce that can stand up to hearty dishes.
- Loads of horseradish- Big flavors from the grated horseradish give a zesty punch and the right amount of heat.
🧾Ingredient Notes
- Prepared Horseradish- This recipe uses prepared horseradish you can use grated fresh horseradish root plus one additional tablespoon of acid, like vinegar or lemon juice.
- Sour Cream- Substitute with plain Greek yogurt or heavy cream.
- White Wine Vinegar- You can also use apple cider vinegar or lemon juice
- Fresh Chives- Adds a subtle onion flavor. You can also use fresh dill or parsley, or skip the fresh herbs if desired.
⏲️How to Make Horseradish Cream Sauce
- Whisk together all the ingredients in a bowl until combined. For a thinner sauce, whisk in heavy cream one tablespoon at a time until you reach your desired texture.
- Let the sauce chill in the fridge for at least an hour, or even better, overnight. For the best flavor, I recommend making it a day in advance. This sauce only gets better with time!
👩🏻🍳 Expert Tip
Start with a small amount of horseradish, taste it, and add more as you go. If it’s too strong, you can add more sour cream or a touch of sugar or honey to mellow it out.
