Parmesan Cheese- Use freshly grated parmesan for a better texture.
French Bread- Use regular or gluten-free bread. You can also other kinds of bread like baguette, ciabatta, or sourdough bread.
Mayonnaise- You can use homemade mayo but storebought works fine.
Shallots- Use sweet onion if you don't have shallots.

👩🏻‍🍳 Expert Tips

Taste and adjust the parmesan topping before spreading it on the bread. Season with salt and black pepper, if needed, or add red pepper flakes if you want some heat.
1 to 1 ½ teaspoons is the perfect scoop for each slice of bread. It's just enough to cover the surface while still allowing the bread to become crispy and not soggy.
