📖Why My Recipe Works
- Parmesan Topping- The mayo binds the parmesan and shallots together and makes my topping rich and golden brown.
- Serve at Room Temperature- While these crostini are delicious when warm, they’re just as tasty at room temperature. You can prepare them a few hours in advance and let them sit out for guests to snack on.
🧾Ingredient Notes
- Parmesan Cheese- Use freshly grated parmesan for a better texture.
- French Bread- Use regular or gluten-free bread. You can also other kinds of bread like baguette, ciabatta, or sourdough bread.
- Mayonnaise- You can use homemade mayo but storebought works fine.
- Shallots- Use sweet onion if you don't have shallots.
⏲️How to Make Parmesan Crostini
- Top each slice with a scoop of the parmesan mixture and spread it out evenly. Arrange it on a baking sheet, making sure that there's enough space between each slice.
- Bake until the topping is golden brown and bubbling, while the edges of the bread are lightly toasted and crisp. Sprinkle with fresh chives or parsley and serve while warm!
Expert Tips
- Taste and adjust the parmesan topping before spreading it on the bread. Season with salt and black pepper if needed and add red pepper flakes if you want some heat.
- 1 to 1 ½ teaspoon is the perfect scoop for each slice of bread. It's just enough to cover the surface while still allowing the bread to become crispy and not soggy.
