What I love about salmon is that you can cook it in so many ways with quick and easy recipes. This salmon recipe is super simple, but it tastes like a gourmet meal, thanks to the creamy dill sauce.
The same goes for my salmon with pineapple salsa and salmon sushi bake. All very simple but tastes oh-so delicious!

📖Why My Recipe Works
- Serving Size- This recipe is very flexible and easy to adjust in terms of serving size. You can make 10 portions for a dinner party or just one for a light weeknight meal.
- Flavor- Skipping the dried dill in favor of fresh lemon and dill for a big flavor. Any leftover sauce can be used as a dip.
🧾Ingredient Notes
- Salmon filet- Use fresh or frozen salmon filets. Adjust the recipe by how many servings you need.
- Olive Oil- Use extra virgin olive oil for the best flavor.
- Salt and Black Pepper- Season as needed.
- Lemon Dill Yogurt Sauce - Make this sauce in two minutes by combining plain Greek yogurt, fresh lemon juice, lemon zest, garlic powder, and freshly chopped dill in a bowl.
Why You Should Brine Salmon
Brining helps the salmon retain moisture during cooking and reduces the amount of albumin, the white protein that can sometimes ooze out during cooking.
Brining also improves the texture, making the salmon firmer and less likely to fall apart once cooked. Follow my easy step-by-step guide to brine salmon in less than 10 minutes.
⏲️How to Make Baked Salmon with Yogurt Dill Sauce
Season the Salmon
Pat the salmon filets dry with paper towels before brushing both sides with oil. Season it generously with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper.
You can also add a touch of garlic powder or smoked paprika for an extra layer of flavor. Bake it on a rimmed baking sheet or in a 9x13 casserole dish.
Bake the Salmon
You can loosely cover the salmon with aluminum foil during the first half of baking, then remove the foil to achieve a golden color.
For a crispy top, broil the salmon in the last two minutes of baking. Let the salmon rest for a few minutes before serving for a moist and tender texture.
Make the Sauce
Stir all the ingredients together or combine them using a high-speed blender. Chill the sauce in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes before serving to let the flavors meld together (if you have time!).
Spoon the sauce over the salmon and serve with your favorite side dish.
🥗Sides Dishes for Baked Salmon
This oven-baked salmon can be served with a variety of sides. I like to serve mine with steamed rice or cauliflower rice as a low-carb option. You can pair it with veggies like stir-fried broccolini, roasted carrots and asparagus, or grilled zucchini with squash.
It also goes well when served with salads like lemon orzo salad and Mediterranean kale salad.
Tips for Baking Salmon
- Baste the salmon with its own juices or a little bit of olive oil during baking to keep it moist.
- Use a meat thermometer to make sure the internal temperature reaches 135F. You can also check the doneness by gently flaking the salmon with a fork. It should flake easily and be opaque throughout.

🌡️Storing Leftovers
Make the dill yogurt sauce in advance and store it in an airtight container or jar in the fridge for 4-5 days. Serve the sauce on the side and drizzle it over the salmon as you eat it so that when you have leftovers, you can store it separately from the sauce.
Store leftover salmon in an airtight container and refrigerate it for up to 3 days.
