This yogurt dip is simple and delicious. It's similar to a traditional tzatziki sauce but without the cucumber.
It's a versatile sauce and it adds so much flavor to my baked salmon, zucchini fritters, and lemon pepper chicken wings. I also love to just dip veggies in it or use it on salads and sandwiches.
📖Why My Recipe Works
- Lemon Juice and Zest- My secret is using both the juice and zest of my lemon. It adds a nice citrusy flavor that complements the yogurt and dill.
- Fresh Dill- Make sure to use fresh dill and not dried drill for the best flavor.
🧾Ingredient Notes
- Greek Yogurt- Provides a creamy base with a nice tang. For the best flavor, use full fat Greek yogurt. Sour cream also works in a pinch. To make it vegan, you can use coconut yogurt or any other plain non-dairy yogurt.
- Lemon- You'll need both lemon zest and juice.
- Fresh Dill- It adds a slightly sweet, aromatic flavor. I don't recommend using dried dill for this recipe.
- Garlic Powder- Adds a subtle garlicky flavor. If you want it to have a more garlic taste, finely mince a garlic clove.
- Seasonings- Season with kosher salt and black pepper to taste.
⏲️How to Make Dill Yogurt Sauce
Mince the dill. Then stir all the ingredients together and make sure they are evenly distributed. Use a whisk to achieve a smoother consistency.
Serve the creamy yogurt sauce immediately or chill for at least an hour to let the flavors meld.
🥗How to Use Lemon Yogurt Dill Sauce
This creamy sauce goes well with grilled meats, seafood dishes, salads, and vegetables like roasted zucchini. You can also serve it as a spread for gyros, falafel, or turkey burgers.
I like to pair it with my spice crusted flank steak, Mediterranean kale salad, or even my Wagyu burger. It’s also great as a dip for fresh veggies, crackers, chips, or homemade flatbread.
Expert Tip
For a smoother sauce, you can do this in a blender or small food processor. It will change the color to a light green but overall the taste is the same.
