📖Why This Recipe Works
- Fruity and refreshing - This blueberry cocktail is the perfect blend of tangy and citrusy with a hint of sweetness. Whether you prefer on the rocks or frozen margaritas, it's perfect for warm summer months!
- Perfect for parties - Double the recipe and serve it in a pitcher with ice!
🧾Ingredient Notes
- Tequila. Use any tequila brand you prefer. For the best flavor, use a high-quality blanco tequila or reposado tequila.
- Lime juice. Use fresh lime juice for the best flavor, but bottled lime juice is just fine, too.
- Orange Liqueur. You can use Triple Sec and Cointreau. This adds a sweet and citrusy flavor to the fresh blueberry margarita.
- Blueberry simple syrup. Use fresh or frozen blueberries and sugar or agave to make the simple syrup. This homemade version delivers a burst of blueberry flavor and is much better than store-bought!
- Fresh blueberries and a lime wedge. Optional for garnish.
- Sugar or salt rim. Rim the glass with sugar for a sweeter profile or with salt to balance the tartness of the lime juice. You can also squeeze lime around the rim.
💭 Variations
Make frozen margarita - Instead of using a cocktail shaker, add all the ingredients to a blender with 1 ½ cups of ice. Blend it until slushy and pour into a glass to enjoy!
Use blackberry syrup - For a twist, use blackberry simple syrup instead of blueberry.
⏲️Make this Blueberry Margarita Recipe
Make blueberry syrup in a saucepan. Strain it through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth-lined strainer in order to remove the pulp.
Combine all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Then, combine and shake vigorously for 20 seconds. Strain the cocktail into an ice-filled glass and serve.
Expert Tip
- Chill your serving glasses in the freezer for a few minutes before serving to keep the margaritas cold and frosty.
- Muddle blueberries at the bottom of the shaker before adding the ingredients.
