Bourbon might not be the first thing you think of for a refreshing summer cocktail, but trust me, add ripe peaches and a splash of lemon juice, and everything changes.
Just like my strawberry whiskey smash or aperol sour, this one’s perfect for slow afternoons, summer gatherings, or anytime you’re craving something fruity, fun, and easy to sip.
📖Why My Recipe Works
- Real Peach Flavor- We’re keeping it real with fresh peaches, no artificial-tasting peach schnapps here!
- No Boiling- I have an easier method to peel the peaches without boiling, thank me later.
- Homemade Demerara- A lot better than basic simple syrup. It adds a deep, molasses-like flavor without overpowering the peaches and bourbon.
🧾Ingredient Notes
- Peach- Use fresh ripe peaches whenever possible. Frozen, thawed peaches and peach puree both work well when peaches aren't in season.
- Bourbon- Use a smooth bourbon whiskey with notes of vanilla, caramel, and light oak. These flavors complement the peaches beautifully!
- Lemon- Don't skip, use freshly squeezed lemon!
- Demerara Syrup- I recommend using my recipe for demerara syrup. You can also substitute it with simple syrup in a pinch.
- Egg White- Optional, but gives the drink a classic frothy texture. Make sure to use pasteurized eggs to be on the safe side.
⏲️How to Make Peach Bourbon Sour
- Cut the peach into 8 sections, twist to remove the pit, and gently peel each slice.
- Blend until completely smooth with no chunks. For an extra refined texture, strain the mixture before shaking. Then dry shake (without ice) to emulsify the egg white and create that signature frothy top.
👩🏻🍳 Expert Tip
The best time to taste and adjust the mixture is before you transfer it to a cocktail shaker. If it's too sweet for your taste, add a little more lemon juice, if it's too tart, add more syrup.
