While I love my strawberry smoothie and blueberry avocado smoothie during summer, this pumpkin pie smoothie just hits the spot when the air turns crisp and all I want are cozy, fall flavors in every sip. It tastes just like pumpkin pie.
📖Why My Recipe Works
- Skips Heavy Cream and Processed Sugar - Instead, we're using pure pumpkin puree, almond milk and maple syrup to keep it a light and feel-good treat.
- No Banana - I love bananas, but not for this recipe. Let's let the pure pumpkin flavor shine through!
🧾Ingredient Notes
- Pumpkin Purée - Use fresh or canned pumpkin puree for a classic base or pumpkin pie filling if you prefer sweeter and pre-spiced. My trick is to use leftover pumpkin puree that I used for baking pumpkin bread or cookies!
- Almond Milk - Substitute with oat, soy, or coconut milk.
- Old Fashioned Oats - Make sure it's gluten-free (if needed). Instant or quick cooking oats will blend quickly.
- Maple Syrup - Swap with honey (if you don't need it to be vegan).
- Pumpkin Pie Spice -Use store-bought or make your own blend with cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, allspice, and cloves.
- Protein Powder - Optional, but adds an extra protein boost! Add a scoop of your favorite unflavored or vanilla protein powder.

⏲️How to Make Pumpkin Smoothie
- Add all the pumpkin smoothie ingredients to a blender. Blend on high for about 90 seconds to break down the oats and get that luscious creamy texture.
- Taste and adjust the sweetness before serving. Add a touch more maple syrup if needed. Serve immediately while fresh!
👩🏻🍳 Expert Tips
- Soak the oats in almond milk for 10-15 minutes before blending for a thinner texture.
- Turn it into a smoothie bowl. Cut back on the almond milk to make it thicker, and use frozen pumpkin puree. Top it with granola, pumpkin syrup, chopped nuts, or chia seeds!

🌡️Storing Leftovers
Store leftover pumpkin smoothie in an airtight tumbler or jar with a lid. They should keep fresh in the fridge up to a day. Just give it a good shake before drinking!
